Research Focus/Background: My research looks at the role of technology in improving education, mental health and well being outcomes for learners with disabilities in low income countries. Specifically, it looks at the role of curriculum materials and motivational messages, delivered through an audio/speech enabled mobile application, on the motivation of special needs learners to stay in school, their test scores in math and science, their decision to take the national exam and eventually their transition to secondary school.
Problem/goals to address as part of CERES: Human-centered design of a disability friendly and interactive mobile application (with audio and speech recognition functionality).
Location of Research Projects: Sub-Saharan Africa (Kenya).
When Not Working: Hiking, movies or playing basketball or football.
